The concert recording of Haydn's 'Mass with Timpani' and 'Mass in C Major', performed on 3 December 2025 at St Martin's Church and featuring René Jacobs and the Zürcher Sing-Akademie, is now available online.

Tonight Subscription Concert «Auf Reisen»
Today, September 9, the first Don Bosco Subscription Concert will take place at St. Martin’s Church. Look forward to Baroque “suitcase arias” featuring soprano Maayan Licht.
And on Saturday, September 12, is European Heritage Days. The Basel Chamber Orchestra will perform a lunchtime concert at 12:30 p.m. at the Museum Kleines Klingental. The concert is free.
New album - Stranger Sainton
Our new album, «Stranger Sainton», is released today. At its heart is a remarkable instrument: the Guarneri del Gesù «Sainton Betti» violin, once played by Prosper Sainton and now played by our concertmaster, Dmitry Smirnov, for this recording. The violin also shapes the project’s repertoire—a journey through the golden age of the Romantic violin, featuring music by Niccolò Paganini, Gioachino Rossini, Hector Berlioz, and Richard Strauss. The Basel Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Victor Jacob and Dmitry Smirnov, engages in a lively dialogue. Available now!
Julia Lezhneva falls ill
Due to an acute sore throat, soprano Julia Lezhneva has been forced to cancel her upcoming concerts featuring the Baroque «Koffer-Arien» program with the Basel Chamber Orchestra. Fortunately, soprano Maayan Licht will take her place. The program will be adjusted but will continue to focus on Baroque opera arias combined with Handel’s Concerti Grossi.
Start of the season at the Stadtcasino
Tomorrow, August 22, the Basel Chamber Orchestra’s new season begins at the Stadtcasino.
We're looking forward to a wonderful program featuring Bar Avni and Fazıl Say, as well as works by Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Ligeti. There are still tickets available.

Tickets are now available for all our concerts in the Stadtcasino, Don Bosco and St. Martin's Church. You can book directly online in the ticket store or call us on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.
Ticketing holidays
The ticket hotline will be closed for the summer break from June 29 to July 26, 2026. We will also be unavailable via email from June 29 to July 12. After that, we will be available as usual.
Individual ticket sales begin on August 5, 2026.

Today Closing Concert
The closing concert will take place this evening at the Music Academy. Performers will include musicians from the clarinet, double bass, saxophone, vocal and horn classes. Entry is free, but donations are welcome on exit.
